Embossing and Debossing Printing
Embossing and debossing add a unique element to your print by raising or depressing your design into the paper, creating a 3-D effect that enhances both the visual and tactile appeal of your custom printed product.
Emboss printing creates a raised design by pressing the paper between two metal dies, resulting in a tactile, three-dimensional effect with the image or text lifted to stand proud out of the printed surface. After the design is embossed, the raised area can be finished further with ink or foil. Embossing can be used to, literally, help your logo or name stand out or to highlight another part of your design.
In contrast, deboss printing creates a recessed design by pressing a custom die into the paper, creating an indent of the design. This gives a shadowed effect, with a sophisticated yet subtle finish. The debossed area can either be left untouched or “blind” or filled with ink or foil for contrast.
Embossing and debossing can be combined with other elements such as Foiling, Die Cutting or Spot UV printing to create totally unique designs.
