Reality of augmented reality in print

Augmented reality print
The new technology allows you to turn the pages of a print publication with each page featuring a 3D image viewable from all angles.

Augmented reality has been around for a while now, however you’ve always needed to look at it through a device.

A new media design studio in London has created the world’s first augmented book which doesn’t need a smartphone or glasses to see.

Their breakthrough combines augmented reality and projection-mapping to create a seamless and magical experience.

The new technology allows you to turn the pages of a print publication with each page featuring a 3D image viewable from all angles.

A movement tracker tracks the position of the book with a camera. You can move it around and the projection will follow the motion of the book. You can project 3D elements to rotate and change shape, colour, texture.
