The Power of Print – A Blast from Elections Past!

Election Leaflet from 1938 found in Truro
Just as we start printing leaflets for the 2025 Council Elections, renovations in Truro have unearthed election leaflets from 1938.

Election Leaflets from 1938 Uncovered in Truro

What an amazing find! During renovations of their beautiful offices in Lemon Street, Truro, the team at Clive Pearce Property were delighted to discover a perfectly preserved election leaflet from 1938.

The leaflet was printed by Solomon & Metz of Truro, a small printing business on Bosvigo Road.  This blog from CornishStory.com talks about how school children used to take advantage of their coloured paper offcuts. The Hall for Cornwall has some programmes printed by them from the same period.

With Cornwall Council and all the local parish and town councils  due for election in May, we are starting to get enquiries for the 2025 version of this leaflet.  Do get in touch if we can help you with yours – especially if you look as dashing as Mr Pelloe!

Many thanks to Clive Pearce and the team for sharing this wonderful find.
